Hypertensive Cardiomegaly Causes Symptoms and Treatment

Cardiomegaly is the enlargement of the heart caused by several factors. As is like any other medical condition, Cardiomegaly may be cause by many casual factors. If you are diagnosed with cardiomegaly, it is important to look at other underlying conditions that may cause cardiomegaly. These are other medical conditions that might cause cardiomegaly. An underlying condition is however the second condition that it is probably present in addition to the previous diagnosed condition and it is the underlying condition that is believed to cause the first condition. Several medical practitioners fail to diagnose the underlying condition which will lead to misdiagnosis.

One of the causes of cardiomegaly condition is the cardiac failure or a condition commonly known as low output. This condition is rampant on patients who have heart complications. Cardiac failure is similar to heart failure and it is describe as that condition when the heart is having complications in completing its function. Heart failure is different from heart attack or cardiac arrest which normally leads to the stoppage of the heart leading to dead. Heart failure is when the heart fails slowly by slowly to a point whereby it will not be able to discharge its functions properly. Some of the symptoms that are associated with heart failure are; when the person breaths with difficulty, breathlessness, fatigue, tiredness and weakness of the entire body.

Hypertensive Cardiomegaly

Some of the symptoms of cardiomegaly are; shortness of breath- this is breathing difficulty of any kind or the condition whereby you run out of breath. This is a life threatening experience because it is a sign of other illness such as heart attack, pneumonia and pulmonary embolism. Swollen ankles- one or both legs may swell. If you detect that your legs are swollen you must seek medical attention immediately because this might be the cardiomegaly condition. Lung congestion- this is a condition when there is an engorgement in the heart vessels. This may be due to chemical poisoning or heart failure. Another cause of cardiomegaly condition is heart cancer. Cancer of the heart is very rare and it normally forms in the tissue of the heart. Heart cancer is also called cardiac sarcoma or an angiosarcoma. There is a belief that cells that multiply more often are prone to cancer unlike the heat tissue which do not divide at all. Cardiomegaly may be a symptom of heart cancer.
