To treat Behcet syndrome, several procedures may be used. The first one is called corticosteroids, which is a medication meant to reduce inflammation and pain. Drugs may also be prescribed, which are referred to as immunosuppressive drugs. The job of these drugs is to control the body’s immune system, reduce the onset of inflammation, and to prevent the symptoms from recurring again.
Aside from these, adequate rest and modern exercise may also be advised. Patients should be in bed during flares. When the symptoms disappear, walking and swimming is recommended.
Currently, researchers and specialists are working hard to improve the drug treatments given to patients. They are also studying the DNA or gene factor of this disease, including the role of bacteria, viruses, and the environment in general. These are all going to be helpful in the future combats against this disease.
